March 17,2020.

So yes, that’s Paddy’s day with a “d” and the Shamrock has three leaves, unlike a four leaf clover. How do I  know this? I’m Irish. My dad told us: “You will always know an Irishman…he’ll never say St. Patty’s day”.
I enjoyed my walk today and I’m sad that my neighbors are so very stressed by the virus crisis.

This is one of my favorite views

We don’t stop and chat about the weather, bingo at the clubhouse or Friday afternoon happy hour at the pool. (Did I forget to mention that we live in an over 55 community here in Florida? This is what we old folk do.) No, we keep our distance, smile and continue walking. I can see the anxiety in their bodies, on their faces. When I smile and say good morning, it’s like a light turns on… they smile back… then immediately their consternation overtakes them. I want to give them a hug and a pat and reassure them. I don’t because I’ve felt this sense of dread since the middle of February when I really began to pay attention to the news from Italy. We’ve  been social distancing since Tuesday, March 10 and in complete social isolation here in our Tippy condo since Thursday the 12th. Thank goodness we enjoy each other’s company so much. 😊

We found this condo and then by the sheerest of good luck we found Raffaele Dolgetta. Raffaele, “the renovation god of Southwest Florida”. Not my phrase, but the words of my friend Nicole who recommended Raffaele to us. I’m going in to make Timmy lunch, then I’ll tell you about our renovation. Stay safe. Stay home. Be kind.
