November 27,2023 Martinique Crystal Serenity

Once again we had two breakfasts, pastries on our balcony, then eggs and cappuccino up in the Trident Grill. After a long leisurely breakfast chatting with new friends, we returned to our suite to ready ourselves for our afternoon shore excursion.
We enjoyed sunshine in the morning, but then clouds rolled in and we feared our snorkel outing might be canceled.

Swiss and bacon omelette.
The excursion boat was docked at the pier next to Serenity.

Tim’s ready.
The 30 minute ride out to the “Bat Cave” was delightful.
Here we are at the entrance to the bat cave.

So yes, it’s a cave… with hundreds of bats…we did not enter but snorkeled for about 30 minutes seeing lots of cool fish.

This is a Bally Hoo…I loved this one🩵
Underwater selfies are the best🩵

A very successful swim and fun with the go-pro…the videos are great…but I’m having trouble uploading them.
Weather’s changing

We pulled up anchor and set off for the “sandy beach” portion of our excursion…just as the rain began.

.
These colorful boats would have made such a pretty photo in the sun…whatever.

We jumped right in and snorkeled for about 20 minutes …working on our selfie game and enjoying the warm water. Swimming in the rain reminds me of when we were kids – swimming in the ocean at Davis Park … not a care in the world😊

We swam in the rain for awhile…then climbed onboard…selfie credit to me🩵
Snorkeling done…bar is open….This was a pleasant surprise
.

The sun returned during our ride back and it was an amazing ride. We chatted with some lovely folks and I took 2500 photos.

Might be my favorite photo of this trip🩵🩵🩵
It is so challenging to capture the beauty of this boat ride with my phone…kind of felt like we were back in Iceland…the air was so crisp after the rain🩵 The sea so calm…
Our captain…one of the drawbacks of group excursions…you really can’t get to know the crew
The boat was decorated for Christmas and Tim’s head was close to the ceiling.
Putting the new selfie stick to use…we are turning into annoying “professional tourists”…fair warning.
As we approached the harbor…this happened.
So freaking lucky 🌈

We arrived back with less than an hour to get ready for the 6:00 pm show in the Palm Court.
Tim looked super in the first photo…but I wanted to show off my pink shoes…sorry (not really) that Timmy is lined up incorrectly here. The pink shoes are the point🩷
Lemon Drop and Rum Punch
The delightful Bruce Hammond sang Sinatra classics for pre dinner dancing.
.
Zayne surprised us with an Italian Sauvignon Blanc
I’m really expanding my Sauvignon Blanc horizons and grateful for the super sommeliers on Serenity for abetting these efforts.

We both ordered the Swordfish
We shared the pasta.

I had a bite.
