Another lovely breakfast on the balcony…there is a trend here.

We had a pretty nice view of an Azamara ship, and enjoyed watching the tender boats going back and forth to Sorrento. Vesuvius is on the left in the early morning mist.

We arrived on deck 4 to take the tender boat to Sorrento. A short wait…a nice chat with yet another couple from Long Island traveling with their son, daughter-in-law and precious 14 month old lovebug.

The port of Sorrento is beautiful.

This stunning hotel sits atop a hill overlooking the port…we visited it last time we were in Sorrento.

We walked for a bit enjoying the port.

Love this yarn bomb tree. Haven’t seen one in quite a while.

We purchased tickets for the ferry to Capri. Although we’ve visited the Amalfi coast before, enjoying Positano and Amalfi, we’ve never been to Capri. Weather was perfect, sunny, low 70’s and best of all? No crowds. Absolutely no crowds…so lucky.  We know from friends that Capri can be a nightmare in summer and early fall, teeming with folks on holiday.

The ferry ride was lovely, we rode up top enjoying the sea air and beautiful view.

The Port area is super cool with typical tourist shops. We purchased tickets for a boat trip around the island and wandered around a bit before boarding the boat.

Did I mention that the climate was perfect?

Along with each and every one of my four sisters, I’m drawn to the sea, I love visiting new ports and delight in checking out the boats.

I’m also drawn to lighthouses.

The tour took us to several caves, including the Green Grotto, not to be confused with the Blue Grotto. We did stop at the Blue Grotto but did not visit it. A visit to this famous grotto requires transferring to a tiny rowboat and laying flat on your back as you are rowed into the cave. It looks like it would have been fun to 28 year old Kathie…present day Kathie and Tim??? Not as enticing. And this is further support for traveling as much as you can when you are young!

According to legend, if a couple kisses while going under The Arch…they will be together forever.

The view sailing away from the Arch…because we were trying to get our selfie act together on the approach and I missed a pic.

So I guess Timmy’s stuck with me.

We viewed so many cool caves. This one might be my favorite.

The approach to the Green Grotto.

Yikes! Are we going to enter?

So beautiful and so lucky that we were the only boat there at that time.

Upon disembarking the tour boat, we made for the Finiculare and rode the cable car to the top. A pleasant 5 minute ride. No wait. Purchased tickets for 2€ each and boarded this car immediately.

Once on top we decided not to hire a taxi and go to Anacapri. Instead we opted for a leisurely lunch overlooking the Port.

A caprese salad, pizza margherita, a local red…which surprisingly tasted like a Sangiovese grape, and two hours later we made our way back down to return to Sorrento via the same ferry we arrived on.

Views from the restaurant were super

This might be my favorite pic of the day.

Here’s a close second.

Crystal with Vesuvius behind her.

Arriving back in the port of Sorrento we were greeted by Crystal’s hospitality crew. We hopped on the waiting tender and were back on board in a flash.

My sweetheart leaving the tender.

We stopped in the Cove, grabbed some refreshments and relaxed on the balcony before dinner.

Thankfully I remembered food pics.

I enjoyed two appetizers. Smoked Wagyu beef and a mushroom tart. (You did promise not to judge me).

Beyond delicious beef.

My crab cake salad was also yummy.

Timmy enjoyed his duck confit spring roll and duck consommé. And veal a la mama. A golden fried veal escalope filled with ham and cheese.

Fernando suggested carrot cake a la mode, and we didn’t want to disappoint him.

A wonderful day, a wonderful evening.
