The port of Civitavecchia is about one hour and twenty minutes from  Rome. So because this leg of our cruise is very port intensive and we’ve been to Rome several times for extended visits, we stayed on board, slept in and pretty much loafed.

I walked deck 7 for an hour and took these photos.

I met Timmy in the Palm Court after my walk. He pretty much had the place to himself.

Lunch in Marketplace was super…Timmy chose a leg of lamb sandwich with cheese and then some paella. I’m only going to cop to the piece of broccoli that you see here.

After lunch I headed to the pretty much empty pool and read me some Stephen King.

Later we met with Jaque the Future Cruise hostess on Serenity and booked another adventure. She is a lovely person and was quite helpful.

It was a wonderful day right up until I spilled the remnants of my red wine on Timmy’s white shirt and landed in the laundry room at 11:00 pm…yikes.

So backtracking… We enjoyed refreshments and sunset on the balcony then we met Steve for drinks in the Cove before heading to Prego for dinner.

Prego, Prego, Prego…as wonderful Italian cuisine as you will find anywhere. We were most fortunate to have Kai,  who hails from South Africa, as our server…as Steve noted; Kai made the menu come alive as he described our choices.

Steve encouraged me to try the Beef Carpaccio. The table side  preparation and presentation is truly a sight to behold.

Timmy’s mixed fried seafood was a huge success for him…I wouldn’t know, because… he  did   not   share.

I made a huge mistake in only ordering a half portion of the yummy mushroom soup served in a bread bowl…what was I thinking? I really needed a double serving.

Timmy’s Veal Parmigiana and my Ossobuco  were wonderful.

Steve loved an appetizer portion of spaghetti cacio pepe and I believe he enjoyed his chef’s special of halibut, however we were having so much fun that  I failed to memorialize his choice.

Sorbet with Proseco. All in all a memorable evening.

Kai presenting Timmy’s dessert…

This young man has a wonderful personality

We never made it to the White Party, because just as we were leaving the table, I tipped over the remnants of my Chianti onto Timmy’s (white) shirt and tan pants. Lesson to self…always finish the wine.

We left Steven to fend for himself, and  back in our cabin; I tore Tim’s shirt off, tossed it into the sink along with his pants …then a mad dash to the laundry room.
