We are sad to be leaving Portugal and this wonderful hotel. From the moment that Daniel warmly greeted us at the entrance and walked us to the Club Lounge where Rodrigo checked us in we felt at home.

It’s always a nice touch to see a welcome greeting on the tv.

Every time we returned to our room with its sprawling views of the city and river, I said to Timmy “I love this room!”

Every. time.

Breakfast was always a treat. We both really enjoyed the omelets.

Breakfast offerings were varied and yummy.

It was so wonderful to return to the club room after a fun day out and about and be greeted by Filipa or Goncalo or Wendy for afternoon tea. Well Buckley style tea…Portuguese Sauvignon Blanc for me and Timmy’s new favorite cocktail the Port Tonic…made with white port. Oh yes, white port’s a thing…a very delicious thing 😊.

Goncalo enhanced our stay immensely.

As did Filipa

One afternoon we noticed Rodrigo interacting and taking photos with a young woman and another person. Afterwards he explained that the Intercontinental Hotel is in partnership with the Association Quinta-Essencia   whose clients painted these adorable tea pots.  Artists include folks with autism  and Down Syndrome.

Unfortunately we only made it to Happy Hour in the Lounge twice, and due to diminishing synaptic function I failed to take photos of the lovely offerings. These offerings included beautiful pastries and small bites of items such a grilled octopus, beef teriyaki and some amazing salmon thing.

I did remember to take a photo of Wendy with the most important Happy Hour offering .

All in all a most memorable stay. We are already planning our return.
