November 25,2023 Castries, St. Lucia

We awoke as we were sailing into St. Lucia.

.
This air strip is too close to the sea for me ♥️
Look closely and you’ll see a small plane in a ditch😟
Still sailing in. I’m continually amazed at how the Captain navigates such tight spots.
Carbing up for the day ahead🩵
This is Tony, first mate on the wonderful “Fish Tank”…a 42 foot boat from Captain Mike’s Fishing Charters
.

We had a most delightful day aboard the Fish Tank with Captain Howard and Tony.

The views as we sailed out of port were stunning. My iPhone really can’t capture the beauty.
Tony’s setting things up.
.
I was up top with Captain Howard and Tim joined us as Tony continued to set the rods.
Tim snapped this pic before he climbed up.
Then he took another closer photo.
This is my absolute favorite photo of our entire trip🩵🩵🩵 #selfie by Timmy🩵🩵🩵
I am beyond happy to be at sea with this guy♥️
Timmy in “the Chair”….waiting….
So those mountains are the Pitons…Petit Piton and Gros Piton.

According to Howard, the Pitons are a World Heritage site – formed by volcanos and include a geothermal field and hot springs. Howard is a wealth of knowledge and so happy to share his love of his Island and the sea he navigates.

Tony and Timmy fishing…not catching
While Tim and Tony fished, I spent time sitting next to our Captain, enjoying the sea and his commentary.

We headed out about 3 miles to a FAD…a Fish Attracting Device. The FAD was created by the Island’s government to benefit commercial fishermen. We were the only charter boat out there with a lone 15 foot commercial boat. According to Howard, local commercial fishermen fish from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Much respect to those folks…we were rocking and rolling in 5-6 foot seas and that tiny boat was bobbing and bobbing!

We highly recommend Captain Mikes Fishing Charters out of Castries, St. Lucia. He owns five boats. If you want a great experience – request Howard and Tony…they are very special humans.

This is the FAD.
It took Captain Howard ten years to become a captain
Adjusting the up top lines
Photo out of sequence…this was taken after Tim’s catch
Tim’s catch…Dorado

Timmy caught the most beautiful fish. So beautiful I really wanted to put it back. But we’d agreed before we signed on, that any catch belongs to the crew.

Tony captured the poor thing, who was flopping all over the deck and placed him into the live well.
So exciting…like beyond exciting 🩵🩵🩵
Another view of the Pitons. As we headed back.
Me sitting in the chair … notice I said sitting in the chair…not fishing.
Here’s my view from the chair…my feet barely reached…😂

The ride back to port was definitely “sporty”…5-6 foot waves…sitting up top with Captain Howard,I felt like I was on a roller coaster…best day ever♥️

Took this pic as we returned to port.
The Dream Team…we loved every minute with Howard and Tony.
There they go…
Because I can’t help myself😊
Timmy rewarded himself with a hot dog. Here he is with Raphael, one of the wonderful head waiters.
Frank and Craig
We ran into Bruce Hammond repping Michigan’s colors…our condolences to Ohio State fans.
Mirror selfie in the hallway …on our way to the White Party

When I realized that this leg’s White Party also coincided with our long standing reservation at Osteria…I cancelled and changed the date … Then this happened…IYKYK

Piotr with Tim’s new favorite Chianti

So of course Tim orders the r e d wine. Really?

Tiger prawns for me and a DOUBLE NAPKIN for Timmy.
Ahi 🩵
Can you believe Timmy ordered a pasta dish on the night of the White Party?…for goodness sake we could have kept the Osteria reservation…whatever…
Devils food with ice cream and Lemoncello
He’s really upping his selfie game.

Victor and Ellen have 50 cruises on Crystal 🩵 The Captain celebrated them at a very special dinner.
