Katakolon is a cool little seaside town in Pyrgos Greece. We met our driver, Marilena, right at the port gate, and headed out for Olympia…archaeological site of the first Olympic Games…776 BC. We left early in search of the Temple of Zeus, Temple of Hera and the stadium. As we drove through small villages, Marilena pointed out olive trees, native plants and flowers.

As soon as we entered Olympia, we encountered folks at work.
Did I ever mention that I once aspired to be an archaeologist? Truth.
Timmy with our first selfie of the day. I’m loving the selfie stick…makes me feel like a professional tourist♥️
So I really need to take notes…no clue what this is.
I parked Timmy and set off to take a few pics.
Because we left early we arrived before the bus loads of tourists from cruise ships.
The weather was perfect and as you can see…not many visitors…yet.
When Timmy wakes from his nap, I’ll ask him what this was. And hopefully remember to come back and edit.
I snapped this photo because I liked the two vertical slits.
This arch leads to the entrance of the stadium. Other visitors were beginning to arrive.
Once inside, there was a laurel wreath prop near a podium. I said “Hey Timmy, can you put it on? It’ll be a great pic…the LoveBugs will love it”

He really is a good sport.

Selfie in the stadium
As we were walking out of the Olympic Stadium, we came upon a guide lecturing her group…made us think of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.

If you look carefully you can see the archaeological site starting to fill with visitors.

Temple of Hera
Another view of Hera’s temple
We were grateful for the many benches located throughout the site.
As we were walking towards the museum, Marilena found us and I took this photo as we rested before we entered .
Small bronzes uncovered at the site.
These were attached to cauldrons.
Here’s a cauldron
So many old things♥️
We practically had the museum to our selves.

I’m pressed for time, so I won’t upload the other 999 pics I snapped…hopefully I’ll come back and add a few more. My one regret, is that I did not photograph the enormous line of folks waiting to enter the museum as we left…at least 10 busses were parked in the lot as we rejoined Marilena. She had bottles of cold water waiting for us.

We were back on board the ship just as Tastes opened for lunch.

Timmy asked Dris for a Coke, not thinking Pepsi was available-he mentioned in passing that he was a Pepsi drinker before I “made” him quit …next thing we know, here’s Dris with a Pepsi…this is the Crystal way.

Back in our stateroom, Timmy iced his ankle.

Timmy had ankle fusion surgery on January 5.
Some day I’ll post a photo of the 5 screws in his foot…don’t worry, I’ll warn you first.

Theo brought our afternoon canapés. Here he is viewing the X-rays of Tim’s foot post surgery.
After napping, we attended Gil’s birthday celebration in Waterside.
Our table mates were delightful and much merriment ensured. That’s Boyan in the background. IYKYK.

After dinner, we headed to the Crystal Cove in anticipation of the White Party.

Here’s Timmy with the Crystal Show Band.
White Party
We met up with Mary Jean Tully, owner of Tully Luxury Travel and Ralph Crawford, VP of Bespoke sales.
My guy sipping something white.

Such a terrific day, thanks for following along.
