December15,2025 Cartagena, Colombia
We opened the drapes, and happily …no large ship hard up against us…

After breakfast I visited Beate and booked 24 nights …spring of 2027…couldn’t resist the new promotion. So yes, green bananas be damned.

Okay, so this is the best lunch of the cruise…

I methodically emptied each shell into a bowl…

…then poured the broth… which was beyond flavorful.

I love Jose…like really love him

After lunch I set off for the little eco-park outside of the cruise terminal. We’d visited this park in 2018 while on a Panama Canal cruise and loved it. To my delight the park is just as wonderful as I remembered it.

I love this little guy…surrounded by so many colorful friends…he’s unapologetic in his simple beauty.

Fair warning…I love these Toucans. I took thousands, maybe millions of photos…

As much as I love the Toucans…this bird- the Blue-billed Curassow – has truly captured my heart. I met him as I entered the secret Aviary 2. I say secret because the entrance is well hidden and I might not have sought it out, but for Beate’s suggestion earlier.

As I walked up and began snapping pics of my new love, I became aware of an Anteater behind him…

I was transfixed as the anteater slowly made his way down the wall…it was during those 5 or 6 minutes that the Curassow and I bonded…

When I say bonded, I’m not kidding…this beauty followed along with me, monitoring my progress through the aviary.

A Silver Pheasant

I did warn you…

Southern Lapwing

One last look at the anteater atop the waterfall…
I feel so grateful to have had all that time to myself in that beautiful peaceful aviary. Thank you Beate for sharing the secret 🩵

Got my steps in.

Sailaway…warm and very humid…so we did not linger

El Diablo…Tequila, Lime juice, Ginger beer, Cassis…like a Mexican Mule …only better.

Tuna and watermelon

Chicken wings

Vegetable curry

Vegtable curry

Some sort of lamb dish…Timmy loved it

After that great dinner, we headed to the Galaxy for an encore performance by James Fox…such a treat and such a special day …thanks for following along 🩵🩵🩵
