Lisbon…where to begin? Probably best at the beginning. Here we are – Sunday morning and this is my first opportunity to update the blog. Our Wednesday evening flight on TAP Air Portugal was uneventful…we took off almost an hour late, however the pilot made up almost all the lost time. Dinner service was delayed until after midnight, so I ate a few shrimp with a sweet corn flan, passed on the cod…and Timmy passed on everything except the cheesecake. We did enjoy a nice sparkling wine from the Douro Valley. I was able to sleep for a few hours… the lie flat seats on TAP are not really suited to Timmy’s 6’4” frame, so he barely dozed. Next time, we’ll stick with Air France or BA …much larger lie flat beds. Anyway- we were through immigration fairly quickly, hardly waited for our bags, met our driver and were checked into the Four Seasons Ritz and in our suite by 12:30. I ordered room service lunch…Tim initially demurred, but when he saw the pizza, he joined me…I was happy to share the pizza … but not my Rose’. Tummies full, we napped for several hours.

The balconies run the width of each room…it’s nice to step out in the morning and assess the temperature…and returning in the evening to the skyline is such a treat.

Our suite is on the 10th floor which is also the top floor, with views of the Tagus river and Lisbon skyline. Its quite beautiful with two balconies and two bathrooms.

Yummy pizza and more than enough to share. I did not share the lone truffle, nor my wine. When I asked Tim what he wanted from room service he replied ”nothing, thanks…I’m too tired to eat” …then the aroma got to him and he popped off the bed to join me😊
I snapped this pic before we headed down to dinner.
The lovely main dining room is the Veranda.
We were seated under these sea horses … our sailing friends will know why this made us smile. If we can’t be sailing on a Crystal ship…the Ritz Lisbon is a wonderful alternative.

Dinner was super …beginning with amazing bread and a tasty amuse bouche.

The sour dough rolls were perfect with Portuguese olive oil and lemon butter.
Halfway done with the amuse, I remembered to take this pitiful photo😢
Tim began with Foie Gras with Armagnac
Lobster, asparagus, truffle, spinach for me.
We both loved the catch of the day…Grouper.
Custard with flakey layers and raspberry sorbet….the Ritz Millefeuille. Timmy loved his Fig Tartlette…but i failed to take a pic.
Espresso…because he’s still jet lagged.
This photo is out of sequence…before dessert Tim remarked how much he enjoyed the bread..so…et voilla’…second bread service!
Here we have Timmy with Chef Silvino…so gracious and appreciative of our compliments.
Returning to our room we enjoyed some time on the balcony …perfick end to a successful day.

And it was a successful day…we (and our luggage) arrived safely at our destination and our accommodation was ready as promised. Can’t ask for more. Every trip we take is an adventure. As always when we travel, we leave home with no expectations…just a hope to meet interesting folks, learn something new and have fun along the way. Our Portugal adventure is off to a super start. Thanks for following along. ♥️
