We caught a morning train to Girona.

But first we fueled up on breakfast, eggs and yogurt for me…and apparently Timmy only had two small pastries … The coffee is beyond great.
Waiting for the taxi to take us to the train station.

Such a cool lobby. I really love this hotel. It’s not just the cool vibe and decor…the folks who work here are super.

The train station was such a pleasant surprise…although large…not chaotic. Great signs and iconography. Timmy did all the advance planning for the train…located the schedule, purchased the tickets in the APP and navigated us through the process.

The high speed train reached a speed of 140 miles per hour and we were in Girona in 40 minutes.

We caught a taxi from the station to the Plaza de la Independencia.

First stop…postcards for the Bugs.

We walked through the pretty square and noted the absence of tourists.

We crossed a bridge and entered the Old Town.

As we walked along we came upon the Jewish Museum of Girona. It was formerly a synagogue, built around the 13th century. Following the Massacre of 1391, the synagogue was desecrated and looted. Today the site of the synagogue functions as a museum where archaeological finds and documents related to the synagogues of Girona are housed.

The volunteers were so sweet and made us feel welcome.

After the museum, we continued exploring…

If you know, you know…(Timmy on a bench).

So Girona has some steps…lots of steps…

We stopped for refreshments and I took off on my own for a bit.

Came back, took a sip of my wine and set off again…

After awhile, we reconnoitered and set out for the Girona Cathedral.

Selfie on the Cathedral steps.

Once again I parked Timmy and took a spin around the Cathedral grounds.

Back on our way we explored a bit more of Old Town.

I have to take at least one pic of the drying laundry.

A lone street musician added to the ambiance.

Back across the bridge we spotted a snowy egret.

We hailed a taxi as we exited the Plaza and caught a late afternoon train back to Barcelona.

Based on numerous recommendations, we had dinner at a charming little tapas restaurant about 15 minutes from our Hotel. We dined inside because of the evening chill, and I’m so glad we did. We loved watching the interactions of the staff with the local customers.

Folks walked in and the servers brought them beer and wine without waiting for an order.

I had a tuna empanada and Timmy choose beef…they don’t look like much…but they were yummy.

I did have an entire paella to myself …Timmy helped a bit.

This Spanish Sauvignon Blanc was perfick with our dinner.

That’s the name of the restaurant …it’s in Eixample neighborhood.

I snapped this photo on our walk home. We had a great second day in Spain…Thanks for following along.
