We arrived at the airport and Sean, our pilot was waiting for us…I held my breath as he weighed my bag. Within 10 minutes we boarded and were in the air.

.

You may remember my disappointment when our float plane experience was canceled last week…well the 40 minute ride from Vancouver to Sonora more than made up for it. So much beauty. Here’s a sampling of the 10,000+ photos that I snapped.

I took photos…Timmy followed our route on his FlightAware App.

The last photo though.

.

Our approach to the resort.

Here’s 30 seconds of our approach and landing…smooth as silk.

We said our goodbyes to Captain Sean and proceeded to the main lodge.

.

.

.

We had a glass of Sparkling wine and a blueberry tart and filled out some paperwork. We met Celsey the Operations manager and Justin the General manager…they run the show here and are warm, welcoming hosts.

.

Geo escorted us to the outdoor kitchen where we met Quinn and ordered a pizza from the wood fired stove.

.

Tim ordered a Bloody Caesar…gave me the olives and asparagus.

As we waited for Quinn to create our pizza, Chef Jin Jeon came out to say hello. If you read about our first visit to Sonora…you know how much we love this supremely talented and humble man.

That’s a floating dock below the outdoor dining space. We ordered half Margarita and half Fungi. The last photo is Sean leaving Sonora.

That’s Geo…so sweet and welcoming…and well traveled. We look forward to getting to know her over the next week.

This guy is protecting our cabin …here’s our living room.

.

This view greeted us from our bedroom balcony.

.

And here’s Tim on that balcony.

So choice is good…the soaking tub with a view of the waterway…or the hot tub with a similar view.

The fireplace shares a wall with the soaking tub and our fridge is well stocked with complimentary snacks, drinks and wine.

.

I was very pleased when Timmy got the fire going…

.

…and mildly annoyed when he began to unpack his bag. He packed his clothes on hangers! Are you kidding me? This is the reason why he didn’t have room for my over flow…

I said “Timmy, what the heck?” Tim: “Sweetheart, you know it just makes it so much easier to unpack”. Whatever.

Oh Goodness…are we still doing the mirror selfies?

Our walk to dinner took us past this stunning nature display…that’s Mount Waddington in the distance in my second photo.

.

As we were looking over the menu, Chef came by to introduce us to his colleague Lupe. When we asked him for menu suggestions he suggested the four course tasting menu.

.

Amuse bouche…roasted tomatoes with herbs and something else that escapes me.

Sourdough and rye bread with garlic confit butter. And our first course from the tasting menu…a beet dumpling with marinated yogurt, and lemon.

Second course: 48 Hour Sous VideShort Rib with black garlic, pickled chilis, mignonette and arugula. Third course: Kombucha cured Halibut with lemon spaghetti, spring peas, brown butter beurre blanc and cured egg yolk. I have no words… just a real deal explosion of flavors…the ribs -so tender, the halibut perfick and oh my the spaghetti was positively silky.

.

That’s Lucas our delightful server, he’s from Leeds, UK. Very, very personable. He brought Tim his dessert…one point if you can guess. And I stayed with the tasting menu dessert Strawberry Pavlova…like no other Pavlova in the history of Pavlovas…cream, orange custard, thyme marinated strawberries and Compari consommé.

.

After that amazing meal, Tim stopped to chat with Jesse.

It was a bit too chilly to sit on our deck so we enjoyed this view from our bedroom before turning in.

We’ve had a most wonderful beginning to our stay here at Sonora..can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Thanks for following along. 🦅🦅🦅
